Charles handled Front Of House sound for our recent Pearl Jam tribute show at a 180-capacity venue and was easy to work with. He grasped our technical setup immediately, including our digital amp splits and IEM rack, and ran a smooth, efficient soundcheck. Mixing live grunge requires good volume control and clarity, and Charles delivered a solid well-balanced mix. He was professional, responsive to our requests, and communicated clearly for start to finish.

Charles has worked as my seasonal sound assistant/ associate designer for the Frinton Summer Theatre season for the past 3 years. In that time he has produced high quality soundscapes, sound effects and music research for a wide variety of productions and performances, as well as
live mixing occasional music night events. He has always produced good quality work, and been responsive to notes on it where alterations are necessary. He has the ability to work flexibly and on a variety of genres and styles. He has a friendly and warm approach to collaboration, and works well within the theatrical environment. Charles Westlund worked for me at Frinton Summer Theatre 2025-2026 as sound associate. He worked on 12 different productions in a diverse programme of plays and musicals. Charles sourced and created sound effects and soundscapes in collaboration with the sound designer and directors. He created and edited Qlab show files and operated when required. For our external music events he was in charge of setting up and live mixing the bands. I greatly enjoyed working with Charles, finding him to be a hardworking and passionate professional.
